Dear Solve for Good Community,
My name is Ivan Piniella, and I am applying to volunteer as a Data Analyst. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) professional transitioning into data analytics with a background in digital marketing, sales leadership, and healthcare logistics. I hold the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate (2026) and have built a hands-on portfolio using SQL, Python, PostgreSQL, Power BI, and Tableau.
My portfolio is grounded in real datasets. I analyzed 968,560 FDNY EMS incident records to uncover response time patterns and dispatch trends across NYC, and over 7.7 million U.S. traffic accident records to identify high-risk locations and seasonal factors — all documented on GitHub (github.com/ipiniella).
I believe data should serve people, not just businesses. My long-term goal is to specialize in healthcare data analytics, and Solve for Good is a natural extension of that direction. I am most interested in projects involving public health, emergency services, or social equity — areas where analysis can directly improve outcomes. I am a member of Statistics Without Borders and am equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team, whether that means cleaning data, building dashboards, or translating findings for non-technical audiences.
Through this engagement I want to contribute meaningful analytical work to a project with a real beneficiary, and to grow alongside practitioners who approach data as a tool for equity. I am available to commit consistent time, take feedback seriously, and am genuinely motivated — not just as a résumé line, but as part of who I want to be as a data professional. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
