I am a Data Scientist and Project Manager based in Edmonton, Canada, with over six years of experience bridging the gap between technical execution and social impact. My career has been defined by a "systems thinking" approach, developed through my work within the Canadian Federal Public Service and international NGOs like Veterinarians Without Borders. I hold a B.A. in Political Science, I’mcurrently pursuing an MSc in Humanitarian Action at SOAS University of London, and have earned professional certifications in SQL and Data Science (R).
In my current role at Service Canada, I manage data integrity for high-stakes federal databases. I specialize in using SQL for data cleaning and relationship mapping, and Power BI for transforming raw operational data into actionable insights for leadership. My technical toolkit also includes R (Tidyverse, ggplot2) for statistical modeling and Agile methodologies (Jira) for project coordination. I have a proven track record of acting as a technical liaison, specifically during a large-scale system modernization where I translated complex legislative requirements into functional specifications for engineering teams.
My motivation for volunteering with DataKind stems from a firm belief in data philanthropy.Having worked on the ground in West Africa and within the Geneva humanitarian ecosystem, I have seen firsthand the barriers organizations face when trying to harness their data. I am driven by the challenge of using advanced analytics to solve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of gender equality, poverty reduction, and climate action. I am most effective in roles that require Technical Project Management, Data Cleaning/Wrangling, or Monitoring & Evaluation (MEAL). I prefer projects that involve messy real-world datasets where I can apply my skills in data governance and integrity.
